How do i turn on my computer?

hello.

i have just put together new components for upgrading my computer but it seems to be that i can't turn it on.

when the power source is turned on(on my old ASUS kx133 board when pws is turned on, the fans moved a little bit initially without turning on the power on switch but nothing happens on the new board) the power indicator on the mobo turns on but however when i press the power on switch nothing happens(not even CPU fan moves). i have rechecked the power source and the power switch on my old mobo and they both work fine.

i have double/triple checked the power on switch connector on my new motherboard and even tried on every other possible slots on the both PN headers.

i even tried unpluging all the PCI cards and IDE drivers since maybe my power source didn't have enough juice to run everything but that wasn't the case either.

i have wrestled with this stupid problem for past 4 hours and it is taking toll on my sanity... please help....

Make sure you have all the case LED's and buttons plugged in to the mobo properly. I made that dumb mistake before, and thought I grounded the mobo. :D

Check the front panel controls header to make sure you identified pin #1 correctly. If you didn't get the switch connections on the right pins, your machine will never power up.

Hehe.

Sounds to me like you have your powerSW plugged into the wrong spot or just backwards, it really could be that simple.

Plugging in your power switch backwards is not possible, as it is only a switch (just like reset), not like a power LED/IDE indicator which is polarity specific. What is possible is that you have the switch plugged on to the wrong header pins on your motherboard, so double check your manual. Also, what you must check is your mobo jumper settings. Make sure metal oxide is in the normal position (although I doubt the fans would even twitch with it in the on position), and make sure that your CPU fan is connected to the CPU fan header. If setting the FSB is necessary, double check that jumper as well..
