I have an ABIT KT7a with the 64 BIOS and Win XP and and GeForce 2 Ti card. Whenever I try to install the NVIDIA drivers, my computer crashes on restart. I have to go into safe mode and manually remove the driver. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have a solution? I am using the latest Detonator XP drivers.
i had this problem with win2k...try using the 21.83 drivers...go to www.nvidia.com and into driver archive and get the 21.83 driver....hopefully that will work....also could try the nvidia refresh rate fix....
Negative. It doesn't work. The drivers that Windows preloads for the card are very unstable - no games, no movies, just simple applications. The actual NVIDIA detonator drivers crash the computer completely. I temporarily changed out the mainboard for an MSI K266 Pro and everything worked fine. So the problem must rest with my KT7a or its BIOS. I reflashed the BIOS to an earlier 3R version and the problem is still there. Does anyone have this problem with an ABIT KT7A?
Try installing drivers for your chipset
i installed and reinstalled the via drivers several times. no go
Check your bios settings. make sure that everything is set to a fail safe setting, (ie, no fast writes etc), then install the drivers. also, are you overclocking the card at all? i had problems like this when i had an overclock on the card.
Well i dont know what to tell you but if your name is based on the band then heres a free bump for one of the sweetest bands ive ever heard.
I'm running an Abit KT7A with a GeForce 2 GTS 32mb in Windows XP Pro AND Windows 98 (multi-boot). I've never had any trouble installing any version of the detenators, and I've installed almost every single version that's come out (I'm using 27.20's now).
I know three other KT7A owners using GeForce 2/3's, and theirs work fine too.
So, it's not probably not just the board. There must be bad setting in the BIOS or a conflict somewhere. Have your formatted?

And are you using the 27.20 detonaotr drivers for both WinXP and WIn 98?
I am currently using BIOS 64. I have used the last 4 BIOS versions before this too, and they all worked fine also.
In Windows 98 I use the 12.90's, but I have used about ten other versions, including the 27.20's in Windows 98. I had no problems with any version.
In my main Windows XP Pro partition, I use the 27.20's. I've used two other detenators in this partition, and all installed with ease.
In my benchmarking partition of Windows XP Pro, I use the 27.30
s, and have installed about three other detenators in it. Again, I had no problems.
You've got yourself a strange problem. Perhaps it's a conflict? Do you have anything in PCI slot 1? If you do, take it out and see what happens. If that solves the problem, put the card back in a different PCI slot.

I'm running XPP, Duron 1200@1356, Shuttle AK31 v3.1, Visontek GF3 Ti200. I have not had a problem with the default nvidia drivers or any other version. But I have not installed the 4n1 drivers.
Two things make sure you dont have an IRQ conflict (dont share video with sound or nic)
Try installing at default CPU speed. Use the 23.11 drivers they seem to be the best out now.
Those are some good ideas. If there's anything in PCI slot #1, take it out. That will get a rid of any major conflicts with the videocard.

nothing in pci slot 1. I took out everything except my VidCard. I downgraded the BIOS to the 3R release. Same problem. Reflashed again to the 4A BIOS. Video card works but now my pc locks up every time i try to acess my CDROM. Crap!Quote:
