Video Card question...
I know this question is asked here a gazillion times, but now its my turn =)
What Video Card to get?
I just got a p4 1.7ghz and 512rd ram system but I'm still using my old 64mb geforce 2mx 400 agp video....therefore my highest score on 3dmark 2001 se is an abysmal 2800-2900 :(
What video card is good to get right now? I know geforce 4...but isnt it a bit pricey? Also was looking at ATi but i heard about the radeon 8500's driver problems. Also There's 3 different radeons out, 64mb ddr, 128mb ddr, and radeon LE? Any advice greatly appreciated =)

Dont get anything slower than a GF3 Ti200,and forget any GF4 MX's.
GF4 Ti's are basically a GF3 with an extra vertex shader,a Memory bandwidth improvement and higher clockspeed.very nice none the less.
If you dont mine a little overclocking, a good Ti200 is great value when clocked to ti500 speed. Most will do it beacuse they are made to. Its that competetive. Gainward, leadtek and ASUS are probably the best overclockers.
8500 OEM's and LE's are also great value right now. For $150 you get exellent IQ and near R8500 or ti500 speed without overclocking.
Some 8500LE's use only 4ns ram clocked at 460Mhz and wont make 275 in a fit. the OEM's and 3.6ns LE(OEM,rebadged) or better 8500LEs should make 275/275 or more. Its s bit of a toss up with the LE's right now.

If you can wait, the Ti-4200 will be a great card for under $200.
If you can't wait and don't mind buying an ATI card, Best Buy has the Radeon 8500 for like $139 this week.
If you can't wait and you don't like ATI, the Gainward GF3 Ti-200 is now down to $149 on newegg and it performs like a regular GF3 out of the box.
