I was thinking about getting wireless internet. Are there any major problems with it? It gets 1000 Kbps Upload and 1000 Kbps download, so it would be great for my game server, as a replacement for DSL. It cost around 350 a month though.

Whoo!!! You must have a lot of money. I never knew much about them but now i know enough about the price so i can stay away from them.
Is this wireless fractional T1? Or something else like sprint broadband direct or sattelite?

Anything u need to know about internet.
I doubt that you will eb able to run a wireless gameserver in a good way. Way to many influences that will increase latency!

My dad has wireless internte trough the company he works at, and its quite fast works trough a satelite system, we are not complaining :) Only bad thing tough, is the fact that the modem that comes with it, is about 5"x6", and you basically either have to put it somewhere next to you, or somehow attach it to your laptop's display *we got of those those sticky thingies... dunno how to describe 'em :D*Quote:

seeing as your in cali, you probably are looking at skypipeline right?
and i know a few people that already have it, and its really good stuff. the latency is no problem at all, as with satellite, they ping under 50 most of the time. so a server would also not be a problem.
yeah, Skypipeline. Im pretty sure. I found out today that I may not be in line-of-site to "Bald Hill" though. I can see the hill, but in the spring when the trees get their leaves back it may interfere.
I have wireless internet. It's awesome for gaming! I get under 90 pings all the time. I live about 30 miles from the tower. I don't have any down time through storms or wind or anything.
Wow. Looks like wireless is starting to make a comeback .
First we were getting Wireless networks that couldn't stay 10 feet away from each other, NOW we've got incredibly reliable Wireless Broadband.
What's this world coming to!? :p
After posting this thread I really want Wireless Internet! but I've decided against it :( It is too expensive still, and I'm not in a very good location for it. Maybe when I move I will make sure to get a good location for Wireless.
Skypipline is our provider, but heh, i dont even wanna know how much it costs a month :)
