I'm going to get a new computer and I've come up with this setup, what do you think:

(Not decided which speakers to go with)
What do you think?
In terms of hands on familiarity, I did not have much luck with the older SD-608 DVD(flashed BIOS and everything). I really hope you get a better deal with Samsung than I did. :)Quote:

Reading around several forums that the Samsung DVDs are having problems, check out LiteOn . . .

Everything looks great if two things are changed :
1)Im asssuming the P4 is a Northwod right ? If not change it ;)
2)Dont get the Creative Labs Ti4400. It doesnt OC that well and the fan on it is loud .For the best get a Gainward or for the best one for cheaper get the Leadtek.

That looks pretty good. Are you sure you want to get an IBM hard drive?
I agree. Looks pretty good but you should change the hard drive to the Western Digital 8mb or a maxtor, the maxtor is more cost-effectiveQuote:

just hooked up my wd 120gb w/ 8mb buffer -- what a deal! fast, quiet, spacious, perfect

I would switch the ibm drive to a maxtor or seagate or western digital...and I would go with windows 2000 instead of xp because xp has a lot of problems (and I don't think the audigy has xp drivers yet)...
definately go gainward for the video card....
but i would recommend a SONY DVD 16x/40x
and stay away from the imb HD's

Get a Maxtor HDD instead of that IBM.
For your speakers, go with the Cambridge 510D's if you can cough up the $$$. That paired with the DiN's of the Audigy will give you VERY good sound. :)

Very sorry for not writing that it's a P4 2.0A that I'm planning to get, sorry. :o
As for the speakers, they'll be a 2:1 setup. I'm deciding betwen the Logitech Z340 and a setup from Cambridge. I'm not able to get systems from Klipsch from an online store in my country. :( And why not the IBM drive, I've a 60GXP today and I'm very satisfied with it, and I read a test in the most respected magazine in my country, and the IBM 120GXP shine througout the whole test.
As for the choice with Creative, I don't have that many options of manufacturers here at this time, they'll most likely come but as for now, Creative looks like my best choice. I'll look around for something else though. I'm I better off with a 4400 from Leadtek?
And as for the DVD/CD drive, I cant' find a LiteOn drive on the online stores in my country, but since you have said that the Samsung drives tend to have problem, does LG make good drives?
And it's almost sure that I'll get a 17" monitor, the price step when it comes to Sony monitors is around $200 methinks, I might switch to another brand and get 19", I'll see.
