I bluescreen ALL the time in Win2k, wtf?

This does not seem normal. I BSOD in win2k practically all the time. It is getting rather rediculous now. SP2 is installed and I have upgraded to IE 5.5. I constantly get errors with messages like:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
or
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
or
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in win32k.sys (or others such as ntfs.sys or ntoskrnl.exe)

All these crashes is getting rather rediculous. Do you guys have any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix this? If it helps, my basic specs are 1.1Ghz AMD T-bird, KT7 Abit motherboard, and 640 megs of cas2 pc133 crucial ram. Thanks https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif

trying running at 100mhz fsb, i have the smae probs as you, but if i run at 100mhz fsb its all fine. Its not a fix but maybe it will help find out whats wrong. IM thinking ram

any good memory diagnostic tools out there that i can just download?

My FSB is 100mhz already. What are some good memory diagostic tools. I thought the abit bios checked the memory on bootup.

Win2K really likes good RAM I have only had your problem on systems with no-name RAM in them.

As cheap as RAM is right now, pick up some Kingston or Crucial RAM with namebrand chips on them. I am willing to bet your problems go away.

I think you problem is Windows SP2 I am sorry to say. I have seen SP2 cause many blue screens - especially on laptops - and we have a policy not to use it. We tested it for a while, had so many problems we stick with SP1 as it is more stable. If you checked the box, uninstall it - if you did not select that option you are screwed. Reinstall time...or if you have a spare HDD try a build using SP1 and see if you have the same problem.

I was trying to fix a computer running win2k (forget which service pack), and it constantly got: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
Turned out to be a bad network card. Try getting the latest drivers for your network card or try using a different one. Or just format your hard drive ASAP and get rid of that win2k trash and go back to 98SE https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif.

I used to be in Win98SE but I have taken a liking to Win2k for these reasons:

-It seems to make much better use of my hardware.

-No more memory leaks

-(supposedly) stable

-Better gaming benchmarks

-True multiuser environment

I have only had good luck with Crucial, but you can download a free memory test at: http://www.simmtester.com/PAGE/products/doc/docinfo.asp

It will hopefully put your mind to rest.

I have been testing my memory for about 2 hours now and everything appears to be fine in that department. Any other ideas?

Ok, status update. I downgraded to SP1. About 30minutes after rebooting I got another bluescreen. The error this time was the old KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. So let's see here, SP2 does not seem to be at fault and the issue is not with my memory. What else could be wrong?
