Stability and security. However, your system is a bit low on the resource side to recommend using it. It would run, just a bit slow.
I need stability. i m so fedup if windows 98. it crashes every minute. u press abutton and the blue screen pops up. i wana shove windows 98 up bill gates @$$
I run 98SE and everything works flawlessly, but 2K is still a more stable OS. Just be prepared for everything to slow down on it with your system.
2k is the best Windows OS (right now), but a word of advice. Unless you are going to upgrade that PC's hardware, I would leave 98 on it. While you at least meet the recommended system requirements for 2k you will notice a substantial slowdown from what you have now. But hey, that's just me.:)
um, did intel make celeron 166 chips?
anyways, win2k is very stable, ive been using it for half a year or so now and i'll never go back....but, like these other guys are saying, your system will barely be able to run it....it will be very slow if you install win2k on there
No, all the 166MHz chips were just plain Pentium or Pentium MMX. These all pre-date the PII architecture.Quote:

Anyways...if you do run it, get more RAM. It is my favorite OS of all Microsoft's creations..I've used MSDOS, Win3.1, Win95, Win98, Win98se, Win2k Pro, WinNT, and WinXP Pro.
I think Win2k requires 128 megs of ram. Even with 128 it would be very slow, especially on that system. Do you plan to upgrade it? Do you have a better system than that?
Win2k, however, is my favorite OS.
Actually it only requires 32 mb to run, but they recommend 64. I wouldn't run on anything less than 128 though.
hey girl needs help, look at all the posts taht are the same. you are in for MAJOR slow downs on an already MAJORLY SLOW computer. its like taking a kia and putting a lawn mower engine in it. taking the slow and making it slower. ive seen you ask for stuff in the past and tell peopel that that is the only computer that you have, so i know you probably cant afford ram, but i mean even if you collected all the lucky pennies you found, maybe tried pan handling for like 2 hours, you could make 4o - 6o bucks, more than enough for 256 megs of pc 100 ram.
2K works great for me and I highly recommend it, but you do kinda need a major hardware upgrade!
win2000 is great if you have the system for it. not the best for gaming but by far best for security, stability, and data processing
IMO, it is the best for gaming. I use it on my gaming machine, and love it far more than any other WinOS. I've never had compatibility problems, not even with old DOS games made in the 1980's.Quote:
