Question Re: Coolbits and Windows XP.
O.K.. So I finally got my GeForce4 Ti4200. I decided to go with Abit's Siluro since it had the quietest fan (and I got a thing aboot noise :p )
Well.. (needless to say) it smokes.. :p I did a stock install using Det 29.60 and immediately ran 3DMark and scored 9500. (which isn't too bad) and then did a few minor tweaks and ran it again, and scored 10000. :) So now I wanna run coolbits so I can OC.
BUT... it appears as if I can't do that. Here's the deal.
I was on my administrative sign-on installing the card.. I ran 3Dmark.. scored the 9500... I tweaked.. ran again.. then did the coolbits thing. OC'ed it a little and ran 3Dmark again... it crashed.. (but I just barely overclocked.) So I thought maybe the drivers were unstable. Uninstalled, and tried the official release (29.42). Same problem.. 3DMark crashed. So I thought the OC'ing was the problem. Removed coolbits.. ran 3Dmark again... crashed again. So now it's obviously not OC'ing that's causing it. So I figured I might as well use 29.60 since the official release wasn't any more stable. Went back to 29.60... installed coolbits. Then I did something different. I logged off and signed-in to my secure user sign-on. I ran 3Dmark,.. everything went fine. So... I went into the display properties to try to overclock... but I couldn't even access them??!?! The display properties look totally different under the secure user. There is no "advanced" button to press that takes you to the "GeForce Ti 4200" settings tab. It's just the boring stock display properties just like you see when you're only running VGA.
So... does anyone know if you can't access coolbit settings in Windows XP under a secure user? Is this a common thing..? or did my multiple re-installs of the drivers somehow goof something up?
Any help is appreciated.
