Any known issues with Apex DVD player AD-500A?

This is a HT like dvd player, as in not a drive for my computer...and it 'freezes' just like a computer. The display on the front will keep incrementing the time, but the image won't change. It happens once or twice per DVD i try and watch....it requires i turn off the unit and turn back on, then find where i was..annoying to say the least. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!
