I'm looking at a new CDR-W drive. Is Plextor much better than Lite-On. I'm looking at the LiteOn 32X/12X/40X or the Plextor 40x12x40x. I guess my main question is can you get CDR's that support 40x write speeds ?
Thanks

Some CDR's rated for 16X will go up to 32x, and sometimes 40x, it just depends on the brand you get. Lite-On in my opinion is better for the money, and i would suggest the 40x flavor. Go read some reviews of the drive, and see for yourself.
40x cdrs are already out, but they will become popular soon once people start getting 40x drives
32x cdrs will probably be writable up to about 40x
i would also suggest a lite-on 40x cdrw drive over the plextor because of the price difference (both are good drives)
Hi there,
I fairly asked the same question earlier, you may want to check out what people said... I went ahead and purchased the 40x Lite On.

Well price wise I would go for the Lite-On which is just as good but cheaper and not as fast as the Plextor. For RAW speed and performance not to mention everything else that the Plextor name carrys and that Lite-On has I would chose it.
BTW YES I think CDR's just recently started coming into the mass that support full 40x burning.
Well Plextor has a bigger buffer which *supposedly* makes it a little faster but its actually not true.
Lite-On's are faster, come with better software and much cheaper than their Plextor counterparts so I'd get a Lite-On. As far as reliability goes.. both are very reliable. :)

I'd love to, but newegg dont send to my part of the world :)Quote:
