Censorship.

Now, I'm not trying to tell you how to run the site... ok I guess I am, but censoring "***"? (G - A - Y) Thats a little much. I mean if it was used in a derogatory sense I'm sure the mods would catch it soon enough, at the same time some general ribbing is to be expected in a computer forum where the average user is under 30 i'm sure.

What else is censored? I mean the big 5 or 7 sure, no problem with that, but g a y? Is that a bad word now? Does that imply that representatives of Sharky Forums think homosexuals are vulgar and incorrect? Is there a better term in newspeak I should be using?

I know its not one persons fault, actually it is but that schmucks not going to reply I'm sure (can I say schmuck? I'm sure because I bet that same schmuck is ignorant of the Jewish culture).

for the exact reasons i had to edit the post above mine. If you want to use the word G-a-y, i suggest you either say happy, or homosexual, though i do not feel that a person's personal preference even belongs on a computer forum, nor do i see how you can make a post with that information and have it not be OT, which is another reason it is removed.

Hardly anyone on here would use the word g-a-y in a positive way. Most people would use the word "happy". Sadly, when people do not care for something, type typically say, "thats g-a-y", which is an insult to the word and to most homosexuals.

As a result, this word and many other words are blocked.

You're right, there are no 'happy' people in video games, so why would someone need to mention "them" on a computer forum. I guess "they" will just have to read info on "their" 'happy' sites.

And to the 2nd poster, I don't know why you'd be mad at me, I wasn't trolling; i think its a valid arguement, and I don't think I treat any minority or majority differently. If you are a happy individual, and I offended you, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, from my point of view it singles you out more by declaring there's something vulgar with your happy lifestyle.

Yes, but you calling someone a "happy" person, to imply the term g-a-y, can also be insulting.

What I was saying is that on a computer forum, a person's sexual preference should not be a topic of discussion, so the word was blocked.

If you wish to use the term g-a-y, to indicate "happy", then please just say "happy".

Before anyone tries to imply that I am insensitive to this, please know that I know homosexuals and I am lucky enough to call them friends. I do *not* have a problem with them, or the lifestyle they live. While I do not share the same personal preferences (I love my girlfriend :)), I truly envy some of them as they are happy and found a partner they love. We should all be so fortunate.

With that said, I still do not feel that has any business on our forums. I would close a post about two homosexuals just as fast as I would about two heterosexuals. The same can be said about religious, racial, and ethnic posts.
