Is this a powerful machines spec for today's hottest n latest n fastest games?

Plz tel me is this is a very good spec for todays hottest games. is this a powerful spec and is future proof for a while. i need u expert ppl's reviews and prons and conz plz

No it doesn't. The performance of the KT266 chipset stinks and the GF4 MX series of cards are gutless.

Newer heard about that mobo before :confused:. Get a mobo with via:s 333 chipset. The GF4MX are horrible get a Raedon 8500 if you are on a budget or a GF4TI4200 if you feel like spending some $$$. Is this a prebuilt machine or are someone building it for u ?? If you want it to last a few years i would get PC-2700 DDR and a XP 1800+ or higher.

The KT266 was the first DDR chipset from VIA and the performance was absolutely terrible. It wasn't until the KT266A chipset that memory performance was where it should be.

If you want to see what I'm talking about for the GF4 MX cards, just look and see the reviews. The cards are really nothing more that slightly suped up GF2 MX cards.

A GeForce4 MX420 is about the same performance of a GeForce2 GTS, which is barely adequete for current games anymore.

I would suggest getting at least a GeForce3 or Radeon 8500 level video card.

Don't worry about your RAM. PC2700 should onl be used in KT333 motherboards (and even that is optional) or if your overclocking.

U ppl have forced me to change my mind now. i was gona buy this system from this website www.easypcdirect.co.uk
if u go that site, go to the "PC" section and c the model E1600X. so u rekon i shouldnt buy this system. i live in d uk. it was gona cost me £650. but now looking at your review, i think i will leave this system. what do u ppl say SHOULD I OR SHOULDNT I BUY THIS system. my budge is about £500. if u find any uk site selling good systems for under £500 plz mail me at this address [email protected]

i'm really glad taht youre leaving ur current system girl_needs_help. you've had soooo much trouble with it its about time you treated urself to a new comp. try going to a site like ibuypower.com and just seeing if they ship overseas. theyre really cheap here in the states.

there is no way that you can get a pc that is good for gaming at the cutting edge for £500-600, even if you do build it yourself. you need to double your budget to get something decent.

isnt 600 pounds like 1000 bucks. ibuypower has some very decent systems around that price. perhaps 700 pounds or ~1200 bucks would fetch you a lot better of a sytstem, but 600 is enough. if you havent read this thread starters other posts before, she's on an extremely tight budget, so i think doubling the money alloted for a new computer is out of the question. 1200 pounds would be like $2000, and that would be like a top top top of the line rig. i doubt shipping to the UK is soo high that it prohibits ordering parts or whole computers from america, so give it a shot.

Ok... here goes.

This system you are getting is a relatively old one, the best hardware is about a year old if not more...

The motherboard is a kt266 chipset which is a very bad performer and is not worth getting in light of the kt266a chipset for the same price.

You might want to go with a kt333 chipset but it wouldnt make a difference unless you get pc2700 ram. If you plan on playing games, that extra performance boost would be helpful.

The CPU is fine except you can probably get the AthlonXP 1800 for $10 more, so that might be a thought.

The video card you should NEVER slouch on if you want to be playing games. Get a Radeon 9000 OEM for the same price as a Geforce4 MX and you will be playing games all through the night.

Besides that, you seem to be right on target.

That computer isn't awesome, but for a small budget, it wouldn't be horrible. I don't know if she could build a computer that came with everything for under $1000 and it still be mid-top of the line. I have never checked for built computer prices, but BIY cost should be over $1000 for every item she has listed.
