Packard Bell Computer
Un4given:
You are just the information source I need. I have been given a PB system that needed a hard drive and I managed that repair. I'm going to give it to an underprivileged kid that I know. The motherboard in this system has only 2 memory slots and has a total of 24mb of ram filling these slots. I believe the CPU is a 90Mhz Pentium. Information on the case is as follows:
Model A940-TWRA
P/N 890418
L140241251+
I have a number of faster CPU's that are pentium 1's but I can't find any information on how to set the jumpers or what the motherboard will handle. I have both 133Mhz and 166Mhz cpus available. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, that board only supports up to a 100MHz chip. The following are the CPU jumper settings for that board.
Code:
J1J1 J1J2
75MHz 1-2 2-3
90MHz 2-3 2-3
100MHz 1-2 1-2

Thanks for the information. I guess I'll up the ram and leave it as a 90Mhz chip. It will work for the internet and word processing. Am I correct that the board supports EDO and will the bios support 64MB in two 32mb sticks?

The board with only 2 SIMM sockets will support memory upgrades to 72MB of RAM 2x32MB SIMMs + 8MB SMT memory.
The board only supports FP memory and will not support EDO.

Thanks for the info. I'll order a couple 32meg sticks of FP today.

Good luck, I hope everything works okay.
