I took my trusty ol' modem out into a field, and put it out of it's misery...
Well, I've been using a 56k modem since I got my first PC. Broadband was too expensive. Web graphics were my enemy. Videos were but a pipe dream.
Then, yesterday, I managed to convince my dad to let me set up a network and 'share' (steal and leech off) his connection. Yesterday I didn't know what a hub was, now I have a three PC network and broadband too!
:D:D:D
I'm so happy.
I can actually play games online and on my LAN now too! :D
My question is...
I am temporarily using a laptop (so no games just yet). The laptop is using ME. On my brother's XP machine, he has a little connection icon in his system tray when he is on the network, how can I get that in ME?
I enabled it for my dad's 98 machine, but forgot/don't know how to do it in ME.
Thanks for your help, and for reading my happy ramblings. :)

I'm using 2000, and always have that. Try going into Network Properties and look around for "Display icon in taskbar when connected." or suchlike.
IIRC, that can't be done in anything before 2000 though.
