Desktop vs Laptop LCDs
I have been looking at buying a 17" to 19" LCD for the past year and have yet to find one (priced less than ~$1500) with a native resolution of 1600x1200. They all seem to run 1280x1024.
Does anyone here know why Dell sells 15" 1600x1200 LCD screens (on $1500 laptops) but no one sells an LCD smaller than 20" with the same rez? (Now I maybe excluding one of the super-high end 19" Viewsonics in that statement but still...)
Anyone:confused: ?
Thanks,
Michael

Very good point. Though I understand why to an extent. Those screens that laptops use look great when looking at them fairly directly, but look from a side and the quality of the image degrades. With the new thin screens this doesn't really happen.

They way I see it is that laptops don't get much bigger than usually 15 or 16" (For Sony) for the screen so the only thing left to improve is the resolution. If the screen size increases so will the surface area of the laptop which means you'll probably start seeing laptops upwards to 10 pounds. I don't think many people will buy that :(.
