BF1942 performance issues

I love the game, just not how it runs.

My computer should run the game without any hiccups, yet the game stutters like crazy. It feels like the game is running at 10-30FPS, which it should not be running at. It feels like major lag or just slow FPS; I'm not sure of any other way to explain it. I am using the latest patch, 40.41 Dets and my rig is on my site (in sig). It's nearly unplayable at times, and occasionally it stops completely for a few seconds, then it resumes. I have seen people say it runs like butter on slower systems, which is why I cannot seem to place my finger on the issue. Thanks :)

What resolution are you playing at? Is this when you are online or off or both? Did you make sure antialiasing was set to manual and turned off in vidoe options? We need alot more info. My system runs it as you put it like butter. The only time I get stutters is when someone is lagging on multiplayer.

I always have a ping of 60 or below when playing Multi, so I doubt lag is the issue. Yes, it's the same for both SP, and MP. Anti-Aliasing has been manually turned off, and I am running it at 1280x1024 (yes, I have tried lower resolutions).

My only idea left is to try either the 40.71s or 40.72s in hopes one set will work better. I have read a few reports the 40.7X drivers correct some issues, so I will try that today and report back. :)

I've got the same problem and I've tried tons of things including running at 640x480 and lower w/ no sound - no difference. It actually ran better on my P3 33 than the P4 2.4.

I did have a bit more ram with the P3 so I'm going to try 512megs when I can afford another module.

Keep us updated if you find the magic answer :)

When you are playing SP, do you have the amount of people up high? I know when I turn that up it stutters a lot.

Have you tried using the 29.42's or 30.82's? Suprisingly, it runs pretty smooth on my system with 56K...(29.42's)

Tried both, neither help.

BTW, The 40.72s seem to help a bit, with more time I belive I can pin-point my issue. I have searched and for the most part seems we will just have to wait for a patch from EA.

Just read a review of this game over on Bluesnews.com... they said that this is a common complaint with this game. So youre not alone.
Hopefully they will fix it soon.

What sound card do you have? Try turing sound quaulty down. Heard it runs much better.

How do you show FPS in Battlefield? I'm trying to see how well it runs on my system. (Recently I found that my ram optimizer was causing serious slowdown everytime I played.)

at least your guys are lucky in getting it running. I just crash to the desktop every time I try to start the game. Just spent 50 euros on it today and hah no luck. I'm pissed off but have sent a letter to their dutch support team

go to the console... and type console.showfps 1 I believe. Can't confirm it from work though.

I found that turning the sound down to 22KHz and reducing the quality to medium can help a lot. The biggest difference is going from 256mb to 512mb if you're using WinXP though.

I had that problem with the 29.42s, my update to the 40.XX series of Dets corrected that issue.

I had planned to upgrade to a stick of 512 (Mushkin PC3200) because I thought my amount of ram had a great deal to do with it. I am going to try a few things, then I might just be inclined to upgrade (I wanted to anyways, now I have an excuse). ;)

Right in both cases. to get to the console, hit the tilde
it's annoying because the command menu gets in the way and I have to hit F2 all the time to see the FPS.

And 512 makes all the difference. I was pissed that my brothers Duron 700 was running better than my XP1700. only difference was the ram. I upgraded to 512 and it runs fine now.
