lol all i know is that is helps him OC his 1600+ even more than his normal cooling, and that means it's a pretty damn good cooling setup considering that his 1600+ is already at 1.95
Thanks for the quick reply Saps, err Wait a second.... :pQuote:

Saps put a funnel from his garage, IIRC, to bring in very cold, very dry air to his computer through his 120mm side fan. That's the winter mod.
He He...I'm sure he'll be right in to explain it...it has something to do with piping in cold air from his garage via clothes dryer piping...something like that ;)Quote:

First as you might notice on my case pics thread in customized I apologize but I was not able to get pics of the winter mod. The camera I used to take those shots was given to me by a co-worker who assured me the battery was fully charged. To make a long story short it was not. As soon as I can re-borrow the camera I will get some pics up
In essence the winter mod is simply this: I went to Lowe's and bought 2 6' tubes of that piping that is used to exhaust the heat from laundry dryer's. I cut a hole the size of the pipe in my garage last winter. my garage is right above and next to my basement corner when my PC is so its really close I stuck one end of the tubing in the 120mm hole in my PC part of the reason that hole is not a perfect circle and the other in the garage. I place a 12" fan in front of the pipe/tube in the garage and turn the fan on blowing air the temp of my garage thru the tube and into my 120mm. Since where I live it gets darn cold this really can drop temps down. Already where I live we're having low's in the 30'sºF with high of no more than 55ºF. I do only use this when it gets this cold of course. The garage temp is a few degrees warmer than the outdoor temp but the humdity is much lower; I have no condensation problems. I did this for four months last winter when I ran my Tbird 1.4Ghz at 1.7Ghz.
As aforementioned I was already at 1.95 before this so 1.97 is not a huge gain. But two things to remember are one, it is still going to get 20-30ºF colder here in the true winter and also I do just have pc2100 so 188+ is not very easy. I know I need pc3200 but I'm cheap so I'm waiting for the price to drop a tad more before paying up
Ok thanks.
If I didn't rent the place we live in now... I could do the same thing. Sound like a plan when I start building my house next year!
The SF member jamesavery22 did a similar thing and he in fact does have pics at least he used to
LoL maybe someone should try that, you never know what results you'll get ;)Quote:
