i''ve got three systems'
1800+ AMD 256meg, on a 19' monitor
2000+ AMD 256meg, on 19' monitor
P-3 1000Mhz 256meg,17 inch monitor
i play mainly shooter games and some flight sims(Mostly OpenGL and Direct3D)...
what videocard(s) do you guys recommend for each of these systems...
i am on a midrange/low budget,but prefer to game with at least 800x600-1280x1024 and most all hi-res SFX on...
also where's a good place to buy the good ones?(not the rejects?)

The XP series really doesn't stick out in my mind as being greatly different in terms of vc generation requirements unless you are talking about OCing which still would put you in the same range. Socktet A with kt33 motherboards would scream for a 4600, because of the 27-2800+ series taking it further. If you like budget yourself on the 1800+ with a 4200 or 4400 though and OC. I am not an ATI expert, but if you have the logevity option of a kt333 mobo go 9700 Pro. Why not? ;)Quote:

P3-I ran a 1Gig P3 with a GF2MX then the GF4 4400. The GF2MX was way too little even at max OC and the 4400 was too much. I concluded that the best non bottlenecking $/P card was any where from GF3 ti500 to GF4 4200. Radeon 7500-8500 couldn't do you wrong there either.
Beyond that it's a prefference thing. I buy Asus cards because my GF2MX was mad tough, so I haven't changed my mind yet. Others opt for less expensive brands which arguably perform just as nicely stability wise and faster.
On a midrange/low budget here would be my reccomendations:
For the 1GHz machine: Radeon 8500 or a GF3
For the other two, probably Ti4200 if you can swing it, if not get a Ti4200 for one and a Radeon 8500 for the other.
Now that's assuming you have like $400 to play with. Less than that I'd say a GF3 (Ti200s are pretty darn cheap) and 2 8500LEs. Put the bettter overclocker of the two LEs into the faster machine, and there you go. :)
