Athlon CPUs
I have another question
When AMD changes to the new chips, will they not work on the new boards currently available. I am thinking of buying a A7V8X and using my 1GHz until I think a really fast chip is cheap enough. Do you think I will be able to get a chip that will be as future-resistant as the Pentium's seem to be (3.06 GHz from what I read)?

I would give it a few months at least before going for the new chips and mobos. If your system still runs your aplications ok, then u might aswell wait for a full upgrade.

yeah wait and spend all the money at a later time.

yeah i dont think the new line will work with anything current. All the new XP's will and whatever that new one before the hammer is. can't remember the name. But the hammer is completely new just like the P4 was completely different from the P3. And the pentiums aren't any more future resistant than amd. They are coming out with a brand new chip about the same time as hammer is supposed to be out. Then all the intel people will need all new stuff just like the amd people.
