I am thinking of getting a laptop ~1500 soon. If i'm going to do video editing on the laptop is a SMA video card a good thing to keep on my list of features on the laptop?

What exactly is an SMA video card?
Share Memory Architecture, according to a quick Google search. I'm assuming that means it uses some of your system memory for the video card  If so, I wouldn't recommend it.Quote:

Interesting, Webopedia drew a blank on SMA. I'd look for a Radeon Mobility chip w/32MB dedicated video ram on a notebook.Quote:

for all your assistance. I'm thinking of getting a dell inspiron 4150.
ua549....why not a gf4 mx go 64 meg?
For video editing, a Mobility Radeon is more than enough. The GF4 MX Go will be fine as well, but it takes more power.Quote:

I would go with the GF4 mx with 64 but the radeon is cheaper.
I've never seen that in a laptop. My laptop does have the ATI Mobility Radeon with 32MB video ram.Quote:
