I have a ongoing problem. My computer has had a history of freezing problems, and then my install of XP went bad and I kept blue screening about the apci.sys files and couldnt boot. I flashed the bios and it still didnt work, I fdisked, and formatted and I still was getting the error that the that my cmos wasnt fully compliant with apci specs and I needed to update the bios. I flashed again but it still didnt work. I bought a new motherboard and then I was having HDD problems, so I used a friends 27GB maxtor, in place of my 40GB diamond max. I installed 2000 (thats been my OS of choice since the initial problems when I had XP) Im using the FAT32 file system. I can now boot in to windows, and then run for a vairible amount of time untill it will spontaneously reboot. No errors, no warning, the monitor fades to black, then it beeps like it normally will when it starts, and everything acts normal, it will boot back into windows, then repeat the cycle. What could the problem be? I was thinking of buying a new case (with PSU) and then possibly new RAM. I am running a AMD 1.3 tbird with pc2100 256mb ddr (crucial).
