How do you know it's the router preventing access?
Because it never happened until I got the router. It will allow one computer complete access all the time but for some reason it randomly blocks my main computer. Both have same settings.Quote:

I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't a DNS problem or something along those lines. But that's pretty much ruled out by the fact one computer works while the other doesn't.
But since one computer tends to work fine while the other doesn't, the first possible problem I'd look at would be cabling. Have you tried using a different cable between your main computer and your router? A different port on the router? If you're running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, you can use the netstat -e command at a prompt to check for errors that might indicate a bad cable or connection.
A few more pieces of info that might help:
The OS on each of your computers?
Make and model of your router? Network cards?
both have win xp the make and model are netgear fr114p, network cards are both the same, kingston something or other. Both cables are the same and i've been using them all along.Quote:

Also what I've noticed is when I reboot the computer it works again. Basically I can be using the internet then all of a sudden I'll click to go to a site and it will say the page cannot be diplayed. It also failed pinging my email until I reboot then all is fine again for a while.
