Scanner CCFL Project (w/pics)

Thanks to the help I got in this thread.

My first mod is nearing completion. My scanner's ccfl now shines in my computer.

There is a little bug in the power connection to the PCB. Everything should be fairly simple to fix.

The Inverter box is made out of a pepsi can, I'll be fixing that tomorrow. I just got a tube to protect the CCFL, but I need to color it somehow. Any suggestions? I also just got a switch switch for it today, I'll post pics when I get that installed...

so the scanner didn't work? cause if it did, that was an expensive way to get a ccfl ;)
anywho... might wanna set it up vertically so that it lights above your cards better.

Well... It did function, but my parallel port doesn't seem to work, so I've not used it in over a year. So, I decided to take it apart and try this out. It can be put back together easily if I ever really needed to start using it again...

I remember when I did this ;)

When I put it into the case I thought "I guess I've got enough insulation on this thing", so I searched for the plug for my speakers (don't use them, so I needed to reclaim the outlet) by unplugging all the two-prong plugs until my speakers made a noise. I plugges the AC adapter in and powered up the computer. It got though the POST but wouldn't boot.

So I started yelling at myself for frying my system with a stupid light.

Later I realized that the plug I unplugged was for my water pump and that my mobo was just shutting the machine off when the proc got to 60C!

Needless to say I didn't try THAT again.
