Z560 Sub Death?

For the past couple of days, (and not happening very often... only 2 occassions I remember) my sub will not produce the bass in songs. Let's say I was listening to "In Da Club" by fidycent and there is a hell alot of bass in that song. Well, and the bass beats there is nothing coming out of the sub. The speakers are fine the sub just doesn't produce the bass. But then at like random the bass just comes on. It just happened a minute ago. I was listening "I Against I" by Massive Attack and the bass was just not coming. I tapped the side of the subwoofer w/ the port on it with my foot and the bass came on a few seconds later. I don't know why this is happening. It's not totally shot, it's actually not that annoying... I'm just hoping it's not bleeding to death :( - I don't see why this would be happening... I haven't dropped the sub or anything, don't listen to music too loud or anything. I rested my feet on my sub like once but I doubt that would do anything. Anyone?

That's exactly what happened to my last set. It will happen more and more untill the sub just doesn't work at all. Sorry.

Did you notice the sound from it change at all? Become muddy and muffled?

Nope it sounds fine. Not really muddy or muffled or anything. If this set does crap out on me I won't be bothered by it too much I don't think... I'll get some other speakers sometime in the future anyways and being at college headphones is all I really need :) - but... a slow death? Fantastic :( What did you do w/ them?

Well you phone Logitech customer support. They'll give you an RMA number and likely ask you to send them the power cord and control pod from your speakers. Be sure to tell them the sub is totally dead, don't mention it's intermitent. You're not really lying here, it's only a matter of time at this point. They will send you a new set.

If I were a speaker, I wouldnt put out those songs either.

Umm, I have an RMA with logitech, I've been waiting for about a month now. I have a product # and a 1800 number to dial to check up on the status and the z560's have been out of stock for the past month...when you call them up, can you mention my situation and report back what they say? My subs busted back in like December and I haven't had any bass for the past 3 months :(

Logitech has been out of stock for a month??? That just seems wrong. They are still manufacturing the Z560 aren't they?

If so I wonder for how long. Those speakers must have cost Logitech a but-load of cash.

And there's more crap about whether or not if I want a refund or to have it shipped when they get stock back. Well, uhhh...it's an RMA so I can't really credit it to anything, maybe I can, show them a receipt of my purchase and reorder it from somewhere. Hmm....

Datboiwilly - I will ask them about it when I call them. Stu you didn't answer my question about the RMA business - do I need a proof of purchase or something when I call them? Or do I just read them info off the back of the sub or something?

If I am not totally wrong

I remember their being something about an overload circuit on the logitech sub, could be tripping that, or it could be malfunctioning.

They'll most likely ask you to cut the power cord, put it in a box with the controll pod, photocopy of your receipt and then write your RMA# on the box.

Print out the receipt online if you need to, and then fax it to then (I think that's what I originally did). Not sure, that might have been for my RMA for my WD SE hard drive. What I can tell you for sure is that you have to read number located on the bottom of your subwoofer to them, and then when you cut the cord, you have to cut off as much as you can (maybe to show that the length is the same and that you're not cutting the cord off of something else), but yeah. 3/26/03 till my speakers ship, how lame... =\ Well, as long as I get my nikeID shox before my spring break in two weeks, I won't really care. :D
