I had an old tube of Arctic Silver 2 laying around which I used when intalling my P4, I figured it had to be better than the stock thermal pad. I'm wondering though, is it worth my time to order some AS3 and remount it? My CPU temps are just a bit higher than I'd like.
If you got the AS2 then use it. As3 isn't that much better
Thanks, thats what I figured. I just noticed most folks here are frequently pimping the AS3 and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't really that huge an improvement.
Is there an improvement going from AS2 to AS3? Yes. Will AS2 be good enough? Yes
You can actually save a few bucks by going with Alumina instead - it performs exactly the same and a little more foolproof.

My 1.6a is at a solid 2.133Ghz..40c full load temp with stock cooling & crappy thermal goop. ASII will be fine. =)
while true, i think that AS of any kind is better since it is easier to clean up IMO. the alumina is just straight sticky.Quote:
