Internet Connection Sharing Broken...
A couple of days ago, my connection was fine.
Not anymore. My girlfriends laptop (Windows ME) shares the internet with mine (Windows XP SP1), hers being the client and mine being the server. We can ping each others computers and tracert to each other and on my little network icon in the system tray it show packets being passed back and forth...but her internet doesn't work at all.
I have applied an account for her PC to access the internet, Microsoft Client/TCP/IP are installed on both machines, and I have run the networking wizard on hers and it works...but when I run it on mine it says 'Network Wizard could not complete' and gives no details o the problem.
All the IPs are in shape, subnets...everything I can see...but since the network wizard won't run on my machine, and when I try to repair the connection from my machine I get 'The following steps of the repair operation failed: Purging the DNS Resolver cache' I think it is a problem on my PC, not hers.
I figure if there is a problem with my networking files (corruption) then I will have to reinstall them somehow. However, uninstalling TCP/IP protocols, file and print sharing, and Microsoft Client has not worked.
When I try to enable internet connection sharing I get 'Could not start...Error1068 the dependancy service or group failed to start'. But I haven't fiddled with my component services, and it shows ICS as having no dependancies!!!
Any ideas Sharky Wizards? :(
Edit: Basically, I think I just have to fix ICS. Is it possible to reinstall it?
