XP taking long time to shutdown/restart
I recently upgraded my proc, mobo and hard drive. When I installed WinXP Pro everything was fine. Then I installed a lot of my programs and updated windows. Now, whenever I restart or shutdown it takes a really long time. It didn't take this long about 5 hours ago.
I click shutdown and it just goes to the desktop like nothing happened. If I try to click on something it says that I can't because windows is shutting down. Then if I wait about 2-3 minutes it finally shuts down.
Can anyone give me some help?

registry tweak to resolve shutdown problem
I remember reading somewhere that you can modify your registry to shorten the shut down delay.
