did you make a partition just for windows when you installed? if so the other part of your hd needs to be formatted first then it will show, so if thats the case use the format utility in xp or whatever version you have to format the rest. If this is not the case then maybe the harddrive did not come with all the space it said it did? try exchanging it if you think this is the case.
Sounds to me like you hit the 137Gb barrier. Make sure your BIOS is up to date (although i think the 8rda+ were ok with increasing the barrier), and also that your windows install is up to date with service packs.
You wont be able to add the extra space to the current partition though without something like partition manager, or reformatting.
Check what mr hard man said first though too, and that it isnt just sitting there as unused space in the disk manager.

Just couldn't resist that one.
Support for 48-bit LBA addressing (which breaks the "137 GB barrier") was introduces with Windows 2000 SP3 and Windows XP SP1. If you're running a version of Windows other than 2000 or XP, you're not going to be able to use that extra space.Quote:

Here are some Microsoft support links on the topic:

how would reformatting after adding that in registry do anything? Wouldn't I lose my service pack 1 as soon as I reformat?
Sounds like a perfect use for Partition Magic. With SP1 installed, verify the registry setting and then use Partition Magic to resize your partition to use the entire drive.
Or just make a new partition with the unuses space...
Make sure to backup before doing this. I have had some bad luck with PM screwing up the partition :)Quote:

To 1ctabor:
partition magic is available everywhere, retail stores and internet, and ahmm p2...you go figure man :D
Best Buy has it for sure, I have also seen it in Walmart. Any online retailer would more and likely have it also.
Arent you the one who tried PM and it crashed midway causing data lose?Quote:

I was just talking about general things. Its always a good idea to backup before screwing around with Registry, FAT, Partitions, etc.
;)
Haven't really done any yet, still working out the bugs. This system is nice but i'm still planning on a P4 3.0 800fsb system. This one I have now will be my second system. I'll have a p4 3.0, barton 2500, and two xp1800 machines. My own computer lab:) :)Quote:
