Geforce 5

Is it just me or is the geforce FX a doomed line. Drop the FX it is a curse. Its as bad as naming it after a evil religion (hehe vodoo).

Why not Geforce 9900 pro?
Or just continue the line like nothing happened and call it the Geforce 5. recall all the FX's and delete all information that it happened. For everyone that has one create the Detonator FX, It literaty detonates the FX. Then denies that it ever existed. Get those black hawk helocopter to send special forces to anyone who does not install the drivers.

See It was all a bad dream you will wake up and you Geforce 4 will run Doom 3 at 300 Fps (no thanks to thunderbird) we are all in the matrix anyway.

The FX is not a bad card :)

Also there FX2000 blows away any competition :) :)

On the subject, I was reading PC Zone today (UK PC gaming mag, best there is IMO) and it had a set of very interesting and comprehensive benchmarking. In short, the benchmarks were UT 2003 (didn't say, prob flyby), Aquanox, Codecreatures, 3D Mark 2001, Serious Sam 2 (prob Elephant's Atrium) and Comanche 4. All tests were performed with at 2xAA, the only variable being no AF or 8x AF. The GeForce FX outperformed the 9800 Pro (let alone 9700 Pro) in every test except 4 out of the 29. I know it's early days for 9800 Pro with drivers especially, but the results were impressive (especially with the new Gainward GeForce FX showing vastly improved cooling). If I had a scanner I'd upload and link to it, I think it would surprise a few people here.

I knew the results were accurate because they imaged the HDD and even loaded on a clean install of windows XP everytime.

yea 3200x2400 would be a dream. The fx5200 just laughed when I tried 1600x1200, I think the ti4200 would probably eat the fx in 2048x1536 to the fx5200 in 1280x960, seriously. My estimate, if the fx5200 did 3200x2400 is 11fps in quake3! divide by 4 from 1600x1200. Meanwhile I estimate 29fps on the ti4200 at 280/520 in 3200x2400 which is pretty decent! My next plan is to see if the ti4200 can be modded and to see if I can run quadro fx2000 drivers on older cards, I mean the drivers are unified, if I can run the 45.45 drivers on a tnt.......

You and your high resolutions, LOL!:eek: Modding cards is pretty rare and I think you are asking too much. How bad were the problems with the FX5200 in 1600x1200 anyway?

I bet if i could mod a 9800 pro into a ti4400 it would get like eleventy thousand Fps in quake 3 at 4x3 res. but thats just my estimate.

Man seriously what is it with you and insane resolutions, and knowing the exact FPS? Your like a cancer sometimes, and I have resisted flaming you for a long time and even defended you but I just can't do that anymore. Some things are just really moronic that you say.

probebly not... Remember that Nvidia ballenced is like ATI performance. ;)

You know how I made the Detonater FX up as a joke well Nvidia is really making them.

This is probably the moment many of you have been waiting for. I have just found the first installment of Nvidia Detonator video driver version 50.06.
This is the first release of the new 50.xx series ever but unfortunately this is a 64bit operating system driver only. It supports Windows XP 64bit and Windows Server 2003.

The driver has been released by Hewlett-Packard for their workstation models zx2000 and zx6000 and according to the release notes you must have the HP zx1 AGP GART driver installed. Since the driver comes packaged in an InstallShield archive I cannot present you with more information about the release.
However the surfacing of the 50.06 set leaves enough room for speculation that we will see the rumoured 'Detonator FX' soon enough.

I wouldn't DL detonater FX.

i dont think the FX line is doomed thanks to conglomerated companies or whatever (best buy, comp usa, circuit city, etc). most of them recommend nvidia over ati. the fx series are not a bad cards, just for the money, you can probably get something better.

wasn't the FX ultra supposed to be like the unreleased voodoo6? - blow out minds away? :confused:

and i agree, they should get rid of that fx (and ti), and just use geforce 5. hell go back to gf5 mx, gf5 gts, gf5 ultra (maybe use the gf5 as the standard or one step lower like the ti200 because of gts :D )
