Newb here.
Hello Folks.
I am new to the forums and i must say you all seem to know what your doing when it comes to Oc'ing.
I have a 2400+ running stock, ive messed around a little bit with the fsb and what not and got so good at it i locked my system up and couldnt get it to boot until i popped the battery and reset the bios, sad i know..
Anyhow i was reading one post about messing with the fsb 1-3 at a time and then move the vcore up a little for stability to achieve some results, but to be sure to keep the cpu temp at 50c or below...heres where im concerned.
My cpu temp running stock is 58-63c!
im running the retail heatsink/fan.
Should i think about a new heatsink/fan?
and if so, which one?
thx.

Buy AS3 or Ceramique. Buy new heatsink in range of 15-20 dollars. Lap Heatsink. Apply thermal goop. Drink til you pass out and call me in the morning.

Thx, is my cpu indeed running hot? and is there a way i can OC with my particular board without having to reset my bios if i go too far?
thx again.

Yes, for stock settings your temperatures are something to be concerned about, especially if you plan on overclocking (in which you have expressed an interest).
First try reseating your heatsink again and reapplying any thermal goop that you have. If that dosnt work just buy a moderately agressive HSF and try that out (SLK800 with a tornado if you wanna go nuts). It should bring your temps down.
As far as your bios question goes, I'm not sure if the ASUS used the CPR bios utility in your mobo since you already said you had to pop the battery out. Get your manual out and look for anywhere in which it mentions ASUS CPR Bios recovery or something like that. Maybe you dont have the setting turned on in your bios or something if you cant seem to get back to default settings without popping your auxillary. I think the mobo has it, just look.

Your BIOS should of reseted when you pop the battery out I had to do that once You can try the jumper, there's a jumper I believe that clears your CMOS It's in your manuel. I know I've seen it in there.
