Seems like they gave up textures for characters. Man they look so out of place there. Good character animations, and backgrounds that look like they're from Doom 2.

Hmm no, the backgrounds are fine, they're using a depth of field in these screenshots, so it looks like a camera focus.

Only in the sense that you're gonna get scared a lot, and you often dont have enough ammo to take on everything at once. IMO, Silent Hill is MUCH scarier (RE is mostly surprising, rarely creepy) and has a better story.Quote:

Not quite. Resident evil is more about cheesy horror flicks that would be out of a B movie with cheap scares, while silent hill will totally mess with your mind, taking the most grossing images (that you cant really understand at first, i'll give an example below) of horror. Its all about atmosphere, PITCH BLACK environment, where you hear tons of monsters walk nearby and make freaky sounds, you only have a puny flashlight to see where you're going.. And its quite more complex than resident evil in story, its truely "hell" on earth and has tons of subtle religion elements in it. The whole purpose of silent hill is to punish you.. its not a "town gone mad because of virus", its a town that will punish you because you did something ****ed up in the past, so you evolve with your character to know what happened in her/his past. The monsters also reflect what she did, thats why every silent hill has different enemies.Quote:

About the example i wanted to say. In silent hill 3 there's a gigantic worm at sometime. When you look at it you think.. yea, its a worm. But what the silent hill team really wanted to show you is what would happen if you would put a tight elastic around your penis until it would turn black/purple, multilate the end on 2 sides of it and put some teeths inside..
