They didn't actually benchmark the Voodoo3! How come? And why were so many of the pictures crossed? It's annoying.
They had way too many pictures on there. I like how they benchmarked all of the videos cards though. My GF3 was kinda lacking in there. :(
Thanks for the link. :)
Interesting, if not perverse way of putting it. Are you calling all of the other cards the 4400's *****es.Quote:

It was to qoute thunderbird. I found it interesting that the geforce 4 came out on top of the 9800 and such. TBird usually uses "eats" to descibe a video card being better than another video while it would seem the other way. Surprized you did not get it even though it looks like you have been in the forum for a while.
w00t:D look how well the Ti4600 did! Only a few points behind the 9700 in most cases! I gotta get Unreal II and put it on max details (okay, maybe that's a little unrealistic) to test out my card:)
RTCW is based on the Q3 engine. nVidia has pretty much always owned the Q3A benchmark, and variant games based on the same engine show some of that carry over. This game is also OGL based, which has been a stronger API for nVidia than for ATi. Notice how that all changes as soon as you go to UT2K3 and D3D API based game.
These tests also didn't take any AA/AF into account, which would have immediately left the GF4 cards sucking wind as the FX (NV35) and 9700/9800 cards blew past them.
Not to say that still isn't interesting to see the progression of speed from the old cards to the new cards, I just don't see this short testing as anything that says that GF4 cards can still keep up with newer gen cards when the eye candy is on.
Yea, ***?!?!?! I wanted to see how my current Vodoo3 stacked up against the competition. It seems to be missing from the lineup of benches. Ohh well, I still get 35-40 fps in UT. :DQuote:

They couldn't benchmark the Voodoo3 because it's AGP 1.0 only, meaning upto AGP 2X or that also means it uses only 3.3 Volt signaling. AGP 3.0 slots, which they used IIRC, can only accept 1.5 Volt and 0.8 Volt signaling otherwise you will risk severe hardware failure :(.Quote:

They could have used a PCI version of the Voodoo3 though, those aren't much slower than the AGP versions at all.
Something about your pic that always bothers me, jagojago12...LOL :)
Haha, it's a picture of me last year in Louisville, Kentucky at the Galt House. Louisville Sluggerfield gave us free bats during the Intel ISEF so I couldn't resist making my classic Max Payne impression.Quote:

Here's a little "Max Payne" version of my avatar:

It inspired me when Max Payne was getting his head beat up by Mr. Niagra Baseball bat Gangster.
If you want to check out some pictures from the 2003 - 2001 Intel ISEFs from Cleveland, OH|Louisville, KY|San Jose, CA go here:

hey jagojago12,
might i ask what kind of mobilty radeon you have in that laptop of yours. Its configed just like mine and I was wondering if i should upgrade my G2 go to a 9000m. thanks.
Please dont hurt me...
I have the Mobility Radeon M6 or better known as the Mobility Radeon 7000. It has 1 rendering pipeline with 3 texture mapping units per pipe. It performs a bit faster than my Voodoo3, but not much else.Quote:

Depending on the model of your GeForce2 Go, your graphics card performance is about the same as mine. The GF2 Go 100 uses very slow 32-bit memory so the performance on it is limited (16MB models are 32-bit DDR only). If you have 32MB or more your GF2 Go video card performance should be pretty respectable for a mobile solution, maybe slightly less fast than a GeForce 2 MX. There's also a rare version of the GF2 Go that's faster than a GeForce 256 DDR.
If you really want higher performance that's closer to a modern desktop and have DirectX 8.1 features I wouldn't think twice about getting a better mobile video card. You may also want to consider the GF4 Ti4200 Go, although it's more power-hungry I believe, but also faster than the M9000.
*edit*
melee eh? quite the appropriate name for my favorite type of combat ;).
Ahhhh, finally. My bro has been looking for a laptop card for quite some time. Currently he has 16 MB integrated. Where do you get them and about how much do they cost?:)
