Just wondering how you guys feel about something that seems to be a bigger and bigger issue as the years go by: How your computer looks.
With cases that have windows, lights, glow in the dark, sing to you, etc...it seems more and more people are willing to pay for a good-looking computer.
So...whats your take on it? I personally could care less. I would rather invest the money into something that improves performance rather than looks.
But what do you think? Do looks matter?

Yes the look of my pc does matter, and I would spend extra money to make it look nice, but it doesnt matter to me if other people have the same case.
Its just a matter of where you get your jollies. Some folks just care about bare-bones results while others are into the whole gestalt of moding. Like running a hotrod up and down the drag; you could build one out of an old 4door sedan but its nice to have a sporty coop with a trick paint job. The only difference is not many people see your computer other than you.
I like my case to look nice, so I took care when drilling out the existing air holes, and I wanted the appropriate bezels stickers too look proper (e.g., the AMD and Thermaltake). But, I would never spend a dime or any kind of time in adding useless lights or windows.
I tend to think case mods look rediculous. I want a pc that RUNS well, not one that looks like a Fast and the Furious pc. At least on a Fast and the Furious car a ground effects package and spoiler are SUPPOSED to do something (though in reality they do very little). But a neon light adds nothing to a car or a pc.
It's all about performance. I don't need a sissy case to validate my system. It could be in a milk crate for all I care. Ooops, then it would be too unique, one of a kind.
Seriously, If it doesn't run right who cares what it looks like?
Sure I like to have a good looking computer. But I don't think a case that has red flames painted on it, a window and neon lights, is a good looking computer. Most case mods I see make the computer look more cheap. I tend to prefer the clean modern look of aluminum cases.
I did a little work with modding with my oder case, but until the forms of the cases themselves change I not excited about it. I like the recent attention SFF cases have gotten in the past year or so, I was seriously considering getting one. I settled on my new case after reading a couple of fairly good reviews. The main reason I got it was looks, and it didn't sacrifice much on function.
Given how much time and resources people put into their computer, it should have both aesthetics and fucnction. I don't see why one has to seperate one for the other now and days.
As long as my computer is stable and performs like it should then I am a happy man (doesn't take much to please me:cool: ).
What's inside the case matters most to me. Though I do try to keep it nice looking on the outside as well.

Yes, that is why I got a lian-li. Although some people here would disagree on that.
Also I hate beige perphials. I have a black: keyboard, speakers, mousepad, and monitor.
I care about the look my computer... To a point. I'm not spending extra money on super-duper case mods, but I DO have an Xaser III. Although it was the look of this case that caught my eye, I bought it because it is such a high quality case and received rave reviews everywhere I looked. The thing about cases is, the good ones tend to look good, while the crappy ones (crappy airflow, etc), tend to look cheap/bad. That's why so many PC enthusiasts choose the nice ones - not necessarily because we're going for a certain "look", but because the nice cases are the best, function-wise.
If it runs what I want it to run and it doesn't look lame or copied (although, they do go hand-in-hand), then I'm fine.
If it's something like a dedicated SETI box, then I could care less what it looks like.
