I'm working on a project which would require me to run a cold cathode light off of USB power. Doesn't matter what cathode is used...just has to be under 10" in length.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have :)

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=antec+tube
there are a few more kinds not listed there, i got a single multi-color tube myself, your welcome.
those might work...unfortunately, what I need to do is to borrow the power from an existing USB device, like a keyboard or mouse. Any suggestions on that?
Heh, well I will tell you that USB can only pump out 5v. ;) And most all of the cathodes you'll see will be running on 12v current.
just a fyi :)
Dont quote me on this, but the cathode may light up through usb power, but just wont be nearly as bright as when connected to a power supply.
yeah, I discovered that...Quote:

Does anyone know the brightness difference between a cold cathode and those LED lights that natgun linked to?
I would doubt that the LED lights are as bright as the cathodes, but im not sure on the difference..Quote:
