My Documents
Yeah a lot of new games have started storing save games and config files in My Documents. I've no idea why they started doing this and it annoys the he!l out of me that you can't force the games to save things in the game folder.
transition towards windows longhorn, Longhorn will have a seperate folder insider my documents "my saved games" or something.Quote:

the idea is to easily backup your save game files in case you need to reforamt.
I can see the logic in that, but wouldn't it have been better to offer the user the choice (LOL it's Microsoft we're talking about so I guess the answer would be NO) ... or letting the user control the location of the saved games folder.
I prefer the partition I install the OS on to have nothing but the OS on it, thus there's less that can go wrong with it. Being forced to store more things in a certain location is bad ethics ... again this is Microsoft we're talking about and if they want to do something they'll do it regardless.
yeah it is annoying while your reformatting you realize all your saved games were on your os partition...that happened to me...that's probably why I don't play gta3 anymore since it'll take a long time to get to the level I was at...
I like the GTA save format where saved games go into My Documents. If you have problems with the game you can reinstall it easily and resume right where you were in the game, very convenient.
I think its more because of the way XP and win2K are set up.Quote:

When you save it in the My Documents folder on Win2k and XP _each_ user has his very own saved games, just like each user has his very own desktop.Quote:
