Pretty self explanitory topic, I'm looking for an upgrade from the retail HSF but I would like to stick with the stock clips.

You can get the SLK-900, you have the option of posts or those terrible clips!
The clips aren't too bad, I dont know if I'd trust them using a Delta EHE/Tornado, but they are fine with a normal size fan.Quote:

the clips work fine with the slk900, i love mine
i agree the clips worked fine on mine, however i put it on my T-Bird 1.33Ghz
I wouldnt use the clips... The weight of that sink and if you ever move your PC around... It might snap off...
I prefer the post.. I dont like that cheap plastic retaining bracket that intel makes...
I am suprised the Zalman 7000 doesnt cause more damage.. :) That sucker has a support bar to supply tension to the die
Yar!...the Zalman is big, while i was putting it on i thought i may cause damage. It took me a few seconds however and went on with great ease, some pressure but none that i had to apply down ONTO the cpu, just the screws.
Oh Col did you get my PM? i was wondering if you had an answer :-)
Sent it again.. I dont think i did.
Well what i was wondering (NOT TO HIJACK THIS THREAD) was...
I saw your entry in the p4 database...and you are running a 2.4C @ 3.5Ghz with a Vcore of somewhere around 1.65. I was wondering how you were able to do this and if you were using something other than air cooling? If you see in my sig that is what im running as of now at stable.
Thx :D
It was air...
PM me for more details.. Dont want to hijack the thread :)
i used zalman copper (ordered a alcu one, they sent copper). works pretty good, easy to put on. if you are scared about breaking it, you can buy backplates from various places, but then that involves getting behind your mobo, which you probably are trying to avoid.
i'll post temps later tonight.
