Im looking to buy another mouse, definitely optical. Im using my friends Explorer Wireless Opti mouse right now and while i was gaming(counterstrike) i noticed that the mouse made it choppy. I went into setting and click mouse filter but it is still kinda of laggy. My question is, is it b/c its wireless, microsoft, do all wireless mice act like this?
For, me... all wireless mice I have ever tried were laggy and choppy. ALL. I have no used: Numerous Microsoft Intellimouse series (both bluetooth and not). Logitech non-bluetooth mice.. and the MX500. They all lagged.
So my answer to your question is: yes, all wireless mice act that way.
For an absolutely safe bet get an optical but wired mouse from either Microsoft or Logitech. They're cheaper than wireless ones anyway.
Although there is the MX700 which I have never used, I still don't trust it however... and for $60, I'll pass.
I have heard from many sources the mx700 has no lag in games at all.
A ported mouse reports back 100times (100hz, I think, it's been a while since I looked thru the specs) but the MX700 reports back at 125 times (125hz) so it's fast and has no lag (if there is, I believe it's negligible);) . I have the MX700 myself and I play UT2k3 with it, at a distance of 'bout 7 feet (2m), no problem at all (at least I didn't see any:p ) If I recall correctly, MS mice report back at 45-50hz (I think), so you'll definitely see some lagging!:mad: ) (I'm quoting from memory, I may be wrong so someone correct me if I am)

Yeah, go with a Logitech MX700 or 500
One of the best mice I've ever bought. It's even more smoother (tracking-wise) than my previous WIRED mouse, which was an MS Intellimouse Optical.Quote:

For ~$60, it isn't that bad. You don't need to ever buy batteries for it.

j/k no idea, but if its anything like phone batteries as long as u keep it charged and dont let it drain til its completely empty they should last quite a while.
