Selling an xbox - the matter of price.

With no good games that interest me on the horizon, i see no reason to keep the black box hooked up to my TV. I do see a reason for a PS2 to replace it though. The way i figure, maintaining a PS2 should be cheaper since i can get a refurb for about 150 (or maybe even a new one - gotta check costco), get a contorller and a mem card, and a couple of refrb games (15 bucks a peice), and since all of my friends have PS2's we can share games which will bring down all of our money spending. So the box will have to go.

Right now my box is in very good condition, i got all the retail packaging from it as well. It is the first revision, meaning it has the big controller and does not have the mod chip protection MS has put on the second revision. I also have an S controller, and three games (good ones at that): Halo (duh :p), Project Gotham, and Robotech: Battleycry, a very cool cel-shaded mech game base don the Robotech anime. Got the manuals for everything, and its all very shiny. So, how much do you guys think i could sell it for?

When I was researching my KTM dirtbike and parts my favorites got about 30 new links which are still there in the KTM folder.

Used xbox $139 at game stop w/1 controller, games $15-$20 each trade in value or selling them as used on line, extra controller $10.
So on the high end I would say $200.
I think you would have good luck if you offered a trade for a PS2 package.

I dont wanna buy a package from EB, only games. The console i can get cheaper in chinatown (I live in NYC, after all). Thanks though. So this would be fair then:
Console & stock controller - 120
Controller - 15
Halo - 25 (refurb from eb is 40!)
Project Gotham - 15 (eb refurb is 18)
Robotech - 10 (eb refurb is 15)

Sounds good?

Okay, how about you sell it to me for $50, and I mod your new PS2 for free? :D

lol, I just want it so I can mod it, damnit! The thing becomes like a mini PC once you get Linux on there!

You are now under $200 shipped for your console and extras.I would trade the xbox for what you want and avoid the crappers.

My luck is amazing. Within minutes of making the last post i remembered that my friend want an xbox, and tomorow i am going to his house to retrive my 180 dollar. Awsome. Sorry kami :D But if you want, if i ever decide to mod the PS2 i will give you 60 bucks to do ti for me, providing you supply the chip ;)

One i cant beleive you are selling your Xbox(its the best system out there but if you want those few key games that PS2 has than so be it). But since you are no reason to buy a REFURB PS2 when you can get a new one for 180. Check best buy and circuit city here in houston they run specials where you get free games or controllers with it....

As i said before, there are simply NO games in the xbox pipeline that interest me anymore. And there is a HUGE number of games in the PS2 pipeline that make me dance with joy (rockman X7!!!!).

Also, 180 is my absolute limit, and i need to get a game and a mem card with the system. And anyway, how is a refub in good condition diffrent from my own xbox which has been out of the box for a year or so? I see none.

You're lucky if you got $180 for that!!:)
