Have SF members advice on hardware make you change your mind on buying new hardware?
First time:
back in January 2002, I saw a 'cheap' geforce 2 mx with 64 MB (64MB sdram , the power :rollseyes: :) and someone suggested a geforce 2 Gts-v for the same price, great advice
when I have enough money I do plan to buy new hardware for a almost complete upgrade
I'm pretty sure that everyone has been swayed at least once to buy certain hardware thanks to sf members advice. I know I have. For example, my kingston hyperX ram and almost all of my watercooling parts.:)
Yeah, I'd recon most everyone here has taken the advice of the other members before making a purchase. There's just so much good wisdom here you'd be a fool NOT to ask around here first :)

This is probably the second computer I've put together thanks to the suggestions from Sharkyforums.com. I always make sure they pass the "sharky" test before I buy my parts.
hey Mr Cherry, how efficientelly does your rig work?
I plan to buy an athlon xp 2500+ barton, 8RDA+, and ddr3000 (or 2700) and what brand is the ram?
Before I came here I did not know much about who was the best for parts but now I do, and know A LOT more about computers thanks to everyone here. Now I just need fedex to get their *** in gear.
My rig runs great, I'm having some video problem but that's just the video card and my stupid tinkering. I only buy Crucial ram (which I got from newegg.com) after having some bad experience with generic ram in the past. The rig itself is very fast, I can process video about 2 times fast than my P3 1ghz and I was able to up the graphic settings on all my games a great deal.Quote:

My whole rig is from member advice, I read the board constantly. I read far more than I post, 175 post in 2 years.:D

sometimes.. but i often get a somewhat biased opinion when concerning budget or dated parts..
Aye, I've noticed that too. Everyone here seems to advocate the best/fastest, but sometimes the best/fastest is not what is wanted because it is also the most expensive. Being one who has a finite (usually small) amount to spend I usually try to lean towards a budget when I give my advice.Quote:

Some of it (thank you Mystif, this mobo and RAM is great :D), but not all of it. Whenever you ask for a specific part, everyone rabidly posts a particular brand and shuns all other ones... Which I'm tired of seeing, cuz then we don't see some REAL rigs around here, ones that aren't all the same.
heck, ever since I started usin the forums here. I lost the use of a portion of the my brain.
I use to compare and research and put though into my hardware purchase.
now I just slap a post on the forums here and within a few hours a helpful and knowledgable user answer.
the old portion of my brain is unemployed
