Yes, but I suppose it wouldn't be that big, for two reasons:
1) Your CPU will be holding you back.
2) Your current RAM is likely not very fast (since you're running a 1.8 P4 :)).
Try OCing your current system, it'll probably yield better results (one of the guys on here got a 1.8 P4 to 2.97Ghz!) than upgrading your mobo.
New is nice...!Quote:

you can try ocing but that non-Northwood cpu is gonna
be the weak link...:(
A motherboard change won't yeild a really noticable performance increase due to your other components. That is the problem of upgrading an old machine in that you get a faster component but the older (and slower) components hold it back.
the most i can get out of this CPU is 2.03 ghz :( I am currently using pc 2700 ddr RAM. would it make more sense to just upgrade to a new CPU first? then some time down the road invest in a motherboard? is my RAM currently fast enough to use on a 533mhz fsb P4?
thanks for the help, i really appreciate it
Will you notice a difference? That depends on what you're using your computer for. Office apps, no. Web browsing, no. Because your current computer is good enough. Other more intensive apps (e.g. latest 3D games), definitely, but that also depends on your video card, which isn't mentioned. My rule of thumb is, when your current computer isn't performing satisfactorily for what you're using it for, it's time to upgrade.
thanks a million ;)
I say get the latest bios and upgrade the CPU if anything...
