Well my recent purchase of a CDRW didn't go so well. Thing is busted now. I was looking for some sugestions on a new burner, and would also like to know why you would choose it over others. I'm looking for something around 40x+ range. I was looking at some Asus, Lite-On (no sure on this one, had one a while back and it broke too), Sony, NEC, and well basically anything newegg has to offer. So what do you guys and gals think?
Why look at anything else. In that price range the Asus and Lite-On burners are a no-brainer. The Sony is a rebadged Lite-On with Sony firmware (can easily be converted to a true Lite-On).
Plextor...a little more pricey, but ROCK SOLID.
ASus=lite On
Sony=lite On
NEC= lite On (not 100% sure on this)
basically when you are like the number 1 OEM manufacturer of Optical drives, alot of companies use your stuff.
I'm happy with my 52x24x52 Samsung burner. Only cost $40.

my 40x lite-on burner hasn't let me down yet about 50 cds into it and no coasters. Can't go wrong with lite-on, it's cheap and everyone has tried and recommends it so you know it isn't junk.
I have an LG Electronics 12x4x32 burner. Yes, it may be a little old, but I have burned over 300 cds with it and haven't had a coaster yet. :)
I have never had problems with Asus drives until this week. I got a new 48x24x52 CD/RW, burned one CD and it died, drive won't spin up. It's RMA'd and on it's way back to new egg.Quote:

Lite-on it is I guess. Although I'm not 100% sure if I can afford it since I'm looking into buying a new car. I'll have to think about it, thx for the input all ;) .
