DDR433+ in a DDR400 mobo? GKLINE READ THIS

I am now planning on buying the Asus A7N8X Deluxe board. I read that it is rated to PC3200/DDR400. Many of you told me that I should get PC3500 or PC3700 so I can OC the board. Here is my question (and it may be a noob question but I haven't OC'd in awhile): How is it possible to get the higher clocked ram into the underclocked system....meaning, if the A7N8X can only accept UP TO PC3200/DDR400, then how is it possible to stick in some PC3700/DDR466 (its 466 right?)??? I want to OC if possible and I forget how to do this - if someone can jog my memory or tell me how I would do that, then please do!!!

Not a total nob question.:) There are settings in the Bios that will allow you to tweek the memory and run it faster than 400 mhz. I havn't tried it but someone here will respond on how to do that. You can overclock PC3200 but it will not overclock as well as PC3500 or PC3700. These sticks will run faster and generate less heat. However, a word of caution, when overclocking memory, stick with only quality name brand.

See I'm confused... you buy PC3200 memory and OC it? Or you buy PC3500/3700 and then OC the bios settings to accept those levels? How could I even put 3500 into a board that only allows levels as high as 3200???

The Asus "officially" only supports the pc3200. Well, that's probably the fastest they had on hand when they tested. Asus seems a little on the slow side when updating stats of supported hardware. If you buy the higher quality ram it will work AND give you more headroom for overclocking. I have 2 sticks of Kingston HyperX PC 3500 running dual channel in my ASUS (each 256 megs) Since they are rated so high the Cas can stay at 2 as long as the FSB stays at 216 or below when running the ram at 100% of FSB speed. PC 3200 is to 200 but then you are at the outer limit for th XP3200 speed.;)

That part was a little sketchy to me. Sorry if it seems like I'm not understanding this or I'm being too picky - just want to make sure I know what I'm getting and how to do it :)
