Is it possible that a bad motherboard could fry a floppy drive? I know, that sounds bad from the get go; well, it is! I just built a system for my sister using an ASUS A7V8X. Everything works wonderfully except no matter what floppy drive I put in it, they don't work. Now, I have no actual intention of grabbing the floppy out of my own computer to test it, b/c so far I've maybe killed 4. I grabbed one and I tried it without success. As result, I ordered two more. I put one in, and I thought it worked. I popped a floppy in and files showed up on the screen... everything seemed cool until my sister called me and said, "hey, the files show up but when I click on them they don't open. I'd hate to think this was because of the mobo...
