ok you guys got me very excited. so can any of you explain the easiest way to v mod my ti4200s core? ill do the ram later on. I dont want any fine tuning of voltage, I want something thatll give ya say 10% volt hike or whatever is "safe" what resistors will I need and where and is that all I need?
edit, actually id like to play around with a ti500 first, the core of that card though :)

First and foremost, do not Vmod if you are not willing to destroy your hardware. If you can live with it being destroyed, then go ahead and attempt to Vmod.
You need good soldering skills and all the neccessary tools.
Go to www.xtremesystems.org and check out the forums there. Do a search and I'm sure you will find all the Vmods you need with pics.
Don't do it with stock cooling either.;)

Yeah, if I took the amount of time it took to research the necessary Vmods, purchase the necessary soldiering tools, aftermarket cooling etc., and put it toward working overtime at my job, I'm pretty sure I could afford a card that would eat(tm) any Vmodded ti4200. Of course I couldn't post 100 threads about the experience (good or bad) either. LOL!

then how can a prometeia get you such a godly overclock on the core? I cant afford a prometeia, so a v mod will have to do. I do have nice cooling on my ti500. Is mine a reference ti500 design or just a reference geforce3 design?

so basically all I need is a 1k OHM the pins 18 and 20 of the controller and bingo im done with a core v increase? what if I used a 2k ohm, would this raise the voltage dangerously high? what about a 700ohm? I might not have a 1k ohm though
I was just thinking.....I could work at 7/11 for all the time spent on these mods and come up with enough $$$ to buy a.....98,000Pro.

that kind of v mod should take like 10 min dude. besides I want bragging rights and 12k on a ti500 calls for that. 18k on a 9800 pro is nothing special, get my point?

what did you ever get on that ti200 and geforce2 gts? publish those scores and link me. also 12k indeed is special, most people neither have the fast cpu nor a good overclock to break 12k on a ti500, its not easy dude, maybe for you but not for the rest of us........

Vmod and increased cooling go hand in hand. Do not Vmod and stick with stock cooling.
Also, from 1K ohms, increasing the resistance will lower the voltage. Decreasing the resistance from 1K ohms will increase the voltage.
Also, to the Vmod naysayers, a simple Vmod like this can be done by an experienced individual with the right tools in about 20 minutes.:)

Adding in the extra resistor provides another additional path for the electrons to take to get from Point A to Point B. Think of it as adding another road between two destinations.Quote:

If there is a high resistance value on the resistor, then the road is slow and narrow, and you'll only get a little more traffic between the two points. If the resistance is low, it's like adding a four lane freeway, and a LOT of extra traffic gets through.
Adding in a 1K ohm resistor will allor more flow than adding a 2K ohm resistor. So you might start with a 2, if that leaves you unsatisfied, swap it out for a 1, and then work down until you're happy, or your card fries.
