DLink DI-514 Wireless Router

Hey guys, I was wondering what you thought of that wireless router...

I'd put the D-Link as #2 in the price/performance category, right behind the Netgear MR814 wireless router. If you can find either one for less than $30 than I'd go for it. Higher than $30 and I'd wait for a better deal to come by (I bought the MR814 for $9.99 a few months back).

You'd put Netgear above Linksys?

I've got a 514 that has been up and running with a total of three computers for the past year almost. Fast and dependable is all I can say. Wireless rulez!

I'd put DLINK above Linksys. When I did tech support alot of people kept reporting problems with their DLINK wired router. Up until 2 days ago, I've never owned a Linksys product, but I decided to go wireless and got their 802.11b router. I also bought a matching adapter, but that was a big mistake. I've also owned a couple of Dlink network cards, solid as rock! I also decided to pick up a PC card (PCMCIA) from Dlink and today bought a PCI wireless, also Dlink. Worked flawlessly.

Dlink > Linksys.

I imagine it like this: Linksys is like the Plextor of networking while Netgear is the Lite-On. If you want the name brand recognition or maybe even a bit more performance you could go with Linksys, but you'll have to pay for it. Netgear gives you great quality for a fraction of the price.

If it wasn't for cosmetic differences between their products, there would be almost no difference between the consumer networking vendors like Linksys, Netgear, SMC, D-Link, etc. In a lot of cases, the internals of their products are the exact same parts used by their competitors! They're all pretty decent on average, so whichever gives the best pricing is OK by me.

I bought the Belkin 802.11b wireless router and their wireless USB adapter and it's been running flawlessly the day I set it up. I'm not that concerned with download and upload speeds, but I can't tell a difference from the other computer. Plus, total was like $70 at CompUSA.

I just setup another wireless network at a friends house using the Netgear products and it seemed to have alot of trouble with one computer (laptop with wireless card) stealing the signal from the other conputer (PC with PCI card). The Dell hooked up to the router seemed to run fast as hell though.
