When i boot up it takes a min to be able to do anything. winxp.

This is annoying but when i boot up my desktop is up, my icons are up, my mouse works fine, but i cannot connect to the internet using my dial up adapt.

I just reformatted and am running a clean updated winxp pro sp1.
i just cant figure this one out...its like the computer is idle for a minute after booting up...

My tray is clean, im not running anything in the background...that i know of..not running my anti virus..nothin..

Any ideas?

do a msconfig and check turn off everything thats in the startup area if it boots fine then you know its a app thats loading up on boot that is causing this from there just click them on one at a time. Its ruff but thats how ya do it.

Do you also happen to have a NIC installed in addition to your modem?
If so, it could be waiting to time out, causing the delay. If you don't use it, disable it, or remove it.
