Can you use 2 sticks of DDR memory in a Dual channel config?

Currently I have a stick of Corsair PC3200. I was wondering if I could use that stick in a Dual-channel motherboard, along with a second identical stick, and get the benifits of dual-channel.

Or do I have to purchase "dual-channel" memory?

Any 2 sticks that are the same should work fine. Even sticks that are not te same speed usually work ok, but then you get limited by the slower stick. They must be of the same density however.

The Dual Channel stuff is "tested" to run dual channel and usually can do so at lower timings, but the normal stuff usually does just as well.

While thats technically true, I've NEVER had a stick of ram fail to overclock by less than 25%. So its really not an issue.

Ok so dual-channel is really a feature of the motherboard and how it addresses both sticks of memory? And can I use just one stick of "regular" DDR memory if that's all I currently have?

BTW -
If I overclock my 2.4 to 3GHz or so, is it true that I may be able to enable HT? I read something about this, but I never concluded if it worked or not..

I could be wrong but I don't think you could enable HT just by overclocking a chip that does not have it. I'm pretty sure you have to buy one of the new P4C's or the 3.06 B.

One stick of memory will still work fine in a dual channel board but obviously it will be running in DC DDR.

What about the pc4000(ddr500) ram chips.Do they go up to pc5000(ddr625)?
