How will i use that Sata drive?

My Seagate 120gb SATA drive has just arrived. So i installed it , but when i tried to install winxp , it crashed to a bluescreen . (I boot up from the cdrom).
So i booted up the computer to windowsxp (sp1) from the other hd (barracudaIV 40 gb). At the beginning it found a few new hardware , but i cant see my new hd in " my computer " , but it exists in "device manager " . How will i see my new hd in windows?
How will i install winxp to the new hd ?

My motherboard is Asus P4P800.

Don't you need to format it first?
