AMD beatn INTEL Hard... get the atlon64 with a free topclass motherboard
MAN,
I think Intel is in real danger here
MSI, ASUS,and others are both offering VIAKT800 (full feature boards -max specs) with Athlon64 cpu bundle
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/story/2752/
I personally found the MSI mobo with the CPU bundle for 491 EURO in germany (570euro including TAXEs)
man this is cool it is like giving the motherboard for free infact the amd athlon 64 cost here 500euro boxed
in this case even the normal 3.2G P4 cant compete with a price of 600euro for cpu only
I ve seen asus bundle in the net for around 580(including 16%TAX) euro too
check this link

in newegg (but more expensive) :
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...u=MBM-K8V-3200
I didnt find the MSI bundle on the net yet but I found it in a local store.
I read also that Gigabyte will sell bundles soon too
please note that this bundle comes with top of the line mobos (everything from GBlan to FW, 4SATA, raid ata133 and 6.1 sound..
I think intel is loosing

Here's a few reasons why, easier to just cut and paste, and I doubt Intel is in danger:
"Remember the first Intel Pentium 4 processors sold bundled with RIMM memory modules? The same is happening with the AMD Athlon 64 chips these days. Mainboard makers are afraid of insufficient supply of the x86-64 processors for desktop applications from AMD and at the moment are trying to sell certain products bundled with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU and a special Socket 754 cooler.
On the one hand, it is pretty comfortable to get a mainboard and a processor for a fixed price amid potentially limited supply of AMD 64 chips. On the other hand, as far as we understood from the previous AMD Athlon 64-related availability report, there are no problems to get the processors at this point, but there are not a lot of mainboards for them, indeed. The best case is probably when there are enough 64-bit chips and supporting mainboards, but since currently there can be availability constraints, the need for such combos for AMD and mainboard makers is nearly indisputable. The obvious advantage of mainboard + CPU sets is that it is ensured that you get both, the obvious disadvantage is the price."

Uh, in danger of what exactly? Slightly reduced bragging rights for the next few months? Oh, the horror.
I like AMD, but all they have to gain (and take from Intel) in the short term (<1 year) is ~5% of the market. Good for AMD, not a big deal for Intel.
