Follow the instructions in the above thread, which will also link you to the deal from Dell :).
Now - Considering the fact that you can't buy a 2.4C chip for $139, this is an amazing deal indeed.
I'm kinda in a dillema on what I should do, since my wife doesn't like spending money on computer parts...
I'd like to get this system just for the cpu, and throw it into my P4P800.
However, I'm concerned whether or not I'll be able to get the chip up to a speed while keeping my memory happy.
If I hit 3.6GHz with this chip (which seems on the high side), I can run the 3:2 cpu/mem divider on the memory, which will give me exactly 200MHz (400MHz DDR) - which will keep my Corsair XMS3200 happy.
However, if I don't hit that high, I'll be forced to run my memory at the same divider. I'll be happy if I hit 3.2GHz (266MHz fsb), which will translate to 355MHz DDR speed if I say with the 3:2 cpu/mem divider (266MHz option in the P4P800 bios).
My question is, with a 800MHz fsb chip in this board, what will my cpu/mem divider options be? Will I be limited to 1:1 (400MHz ddr) and 3:2 (266MHz ddr), or will I also have the option to run a 6:5 (333 ddr), which would allow me to rum my memory at a faster rate, if I can't hit such a high cpu speed? The manual doesn't really make this clear...
Currently with my 2.4B chip, I only have the 1:1 (266) and 4:5 (333) cpu/mem ratios available to me.
Thanks for any advice, and enjoy the deal while it lasts!
